linders guarantee

Does anyone have experience returning plants to Linders and how did it go? I have a delphinium and a pulmonaria that did not come up this year and I'd like to get my money back. I have the old growth from the delphinium but I could not find the rootball. I am just wondering how strict they are about returning items.

They want the plant remains, the tag, and the receipt. Depends on the person whether they are more or less easy-going. I've never had a problem, and I've had to return at least one item every year for the past 3 years.

Although it's not completely their fault cuz I wait til the 50% off sale to buy anything, I think I'm going to stop buying from them. The flowermart folks often don't water well and their selection isn't worth full price to me.

They gave me credit for a Japanese painted fern that disappeared when I returned a tiny bit of root, tag and receipt. It reappeared a month later so I went in to return their money. They waived it, and thanked me for my honesty. I returned the remains of 3 Tinkerbelle miniature lilacs this spring and received full credit on the spot. I did have some roots and dead trunk and branch structure, the original tags, and receipt. (I make a habit of putting the receipt with tags in a baggie for future reference.) I've bought a lot of plants from Linders over the years and these were the only failures. As Leaves noted, they came from the Flower Huts 50% off sale and were pretty dry and rootbound when I bought them two years ago. But 2 of 5 survived and are thriving, so the early spring thaws as well as not so great root systems probably did them in.

I was accidently charged for a large shrub being bought by the guy in front of me in line, realized it days later when I looked at the receipt, went back and Linders refunded my money.

I lost about 8 (out of a whole bunch-just started gardening last year) and returned them to a flower mart. They said 'sorry about your plants' and were so helpful and friendly about replacing them. I had done the 50% off sale in July as well. One of the plants from last year that made it and looks beautiful was a different variety than the tag and looks a little too large for the space. The lady gave me the correct plant for free w/o asking for my receipt and told me to keep the other plant too. Overall, I have been very happy with Linders and I will continue to buy from them.

I've had some bad experiences with Lyndale garden which may be just a fluke but when I'm there most of the workers are grumpy and non-helpful. I returned a coneflower that died w/in their 30 day guarantee w/ receipt and tag but not in same container and the worker was questioning if I really bought it from them.

I had to return tons of plants this spring, they were great about it.

Well I returned my plants yesterday and I have to say they were great about it. They even mentioned that as long as you have your receipt you can return items (you don't necessarily need the tag like their policy says)!

well I work at one of the flower marts in champlin and I know that we water well and take great care of the plants. I think that if I did not take care of them I would not want to buy them. It gets very hard to care for them when the plants get to be large and need to be planted. That is why we close them in July.

I bought some half-price half-dead perennials a couple of weeks ago from a Linder's parking lot tent. I figure for the half price I am just investing in the root system, even though they will look sort of ugly for this season. Anyway, I was talking with two of the workers about their return policy, and they were telling me about the things people try to return. I about died laughing. One of my favorite's was that people buy tropical plants and return the carcasses the next year when they don't come back. Oh my. Ignorant, or just dishonest?

Tradewind, my guess would be that it's usually ignorance. I work part-time at a small nursery, and have had to explain the difference between annuals and perennials more times than I can count.

Erica, I'm sure you are right, and that was not kind of me to be so judgemental. I was too harsh. The stories were just so funny. I bet you have some good stories too!
