Windswept-looking evergreens in the Outer Banks?

Hi to all in the Outer Banks... So sorry you were not spared by Sandy... Hope all of you are recovering well...

We came down this summer, and saw some gorgeous evergreens... They were used in several places... Kind of "windswept" looking... Some looked like candelabras!

Can you please let me know what they are?

Thanks so much... and sending prayers that the beautiful Outer Banks, (along with everyone else that got hit hard), recover soon.

Do you mean trees like this? See picture in the link. This one's from VA beach. I came across a plant that looked like this when I was researching, but don't remember now. Hopefully someone can help with a photo.

The tree is a Juniperus chinensis or twisted juniper.
