Well Idon't grow it but have a friend that does. I don't know what strain but, I can tell you It sure grows well. I am sure he would be willing to part with some,as he is going to till up that part of the garden to clean up the weeds. I know it keeps comming up every year by itself.

This is an very invasive plant and will get out of control.My neighbor takes his tractor and digger to the neighbors and digs it up. It still comes back every year. One plant grew into a 30 foot row. If any of the root is left in the ground it will come up and go on to multiply... Be careful where you plant it. Once it is there you can't get rid of it. I live in the country so I planted a root in the road ditch. I figured the salt will keep it in control and every one who sees it can take some root and make horseradish for themselves.

Where does this friend live? I've got the promise of some root next time I see my aunt, but it won't be til fall and I wanted to get some started this summer.

I've read about the invasiveness. I'm gonna plant it in a buried bin to control the spread. (Like growing mint in a submerged coffee can witht he bottom cut out; but bigger)

He lives in windom is that reachable for you?

Just a note: Tilling/plowing through a horseradish patch spreads it because you are tearing/cutting pieces of the root all of which will grow. If you don't want it to spread as much, don't till through it.

gomanson; To late for horseradish from friend I don't think it will survive the roundup. Found some wild for you by Windom. 18th. ave north off river rd. It is in ditch after the road turns into gravel. Good hunting.

Does anyone know where I could get horseradish root? I'm in Florida myself. But Mom is German and loves it!!!

My grandpa always grows it in containers. It does great and then you can control it.
