I like it with some of the ornamental grasses, Shenandoah Switch Grass has a red cast that would play nice off the coneflower, and the textures work well. I also like it with some of the blue meadow sages, like 'May Night' or 'Caradonna', it would also be nice with Sedum 'Matrona' or really deep burgundy Asiatic lilies. I agree it is a bit touchy to place; total yuck with pink, kinda blah with white, clashy with orange, yellow could work but it is not the best. I would walk around the nursery with one and just set it next to everything I think might work...Good luck, Helen.

Helen paints a beautiful picture with some of her suggestions- how about a trio of the coneflower; May night salvia and an ornamental grass- add a piece of hardscape like a rock and you would have a gorgeous focal point.

Great ideas! I didn't think to use it with grasses and I already have a few thru out my garden. I love using them. Of course, it never hurts to buy a few more. I also have May Night but not Caradonna so I think I should check this plant out as well. This sounds like I might need to expand my site just a wee little bit more. Now I am itching to get into the garden, but must wait until this weekend. Oh well. Thanks again!
