Seed thingies are likely bulblets forming. If the bulbs are firm, put them back. Winter was their rest.

They won't survive EVERY winter here in the Great Lakes region, but generally will survive the mild winters to regrow. A deep mulch over the corms helps a lot.

The little corms that form at the base of the mother corm will do better if you separate them, but if not practical, just leave them, they'll still grow.
