Zipity -Do-Da..Trumpet Vine is finially getting trumpets....

I am almost jumping up and down....after about 5 years one of my Trumpet Vines has finially gotten some red flower buds at the end of one of the long vine branches..I am going out as soon as I get done here to see if there are any buds on the other side of the fence.......my other TV isn't doing too good....that one gets alot less sun..and I planted that one a year earlier......should I try and transplant that one to a sunnier location....should I wait til fall to do it..anyone have any good tips on these vines......

    Michele -

    Congratulations on your Trumpet vine buds/blooms. I have three TV's that have been along my fence for a good 5+ years I bet, and this year they took off like crazy - finally. I haven't looked closely at them for a few weeks, so now I am going to go out and take a good close look. After your news, I now have hope for mine. It's been so long since I put them in, I don't recall if they are red/orange or yellow.

    I winter sowed some and have a good dozen or more little babies still waiting for a home (they're still in the W/S container). Need to get them a home!

    I am curious if you found any buds....I went to the otherside of my fence and there were no buds over there....but maybe they are yet to come..I have them planted all along the chain link fence that surround my dogs area.....I also have several Honeysuckle vines...and a few grape vines that the birds gobble up before I can get to them...also morning glories..and Annebelle Hydrangias.....can you tell I hate the look of chainlink.......Michele>^,,^

    I had mine for about 4 years with no flowers then this year it just didn't come back..I'm trying to convince myself it wouldn't have gone with my garden scheme anyway.... I moved a clematis in june and was told on this forum not to expect any flowers. A couple of weeks ago there she was! and there's more now... It is exciting!

    Well, I'll be danged if I didnt walk past my trumpet vine, which I've had lolling about and not blooming for maybe 7 or 8 years and I about fell over. I have blossoms coming too, for the first time ever. I must have caught a case of the blossoms after reading this posting. Magic! (that'd be the orange, still nothin on the yellow- but hey! I'll take anything I can get! yaaaay

    Well this must be the year for Trumpets....I have been looking at the ends of my vines everyday and there IS other bud blossoms forming...there are about 4 other vines on that one plant that have buds.......my plant looks like it's the orange color...I couldn't remember.....the buds looked red...but now they are about to open and look orange....I'm not sure of the color on my plant that's not doing as well....>^,,^
