You'll find those allegations to be true - - way farther south. Here (and especially there), there will be no such problem.

I have a different experience. My neighbor has such a vine. It has been "distributed" to several areas in my yard and I haven't noticed that the birds' flight patterns occur only over my yard. I might be mistaken, but I believe MN also lists it as invasive. Too bad, because as you said, it is very attractive. My neighbor has the variegated version as well. I've thought about sneaking into their yard at night and clipping off the berries! (j/k)

I'm not doubting you, Leaves. I learn at least ten new things every day. It's surprising all the different lists I find for MN invasive/noxious plants. But the longest one is only 100 plants! Surely there are many more, and I seem to be incompetent in my search skills here. Would love to have the complete listing . . . .

Yeah, not to hijack the thread, but it's the same thing when you look up a plant's cultural requirements. Seemingly credible sites list zone 4, others say only zone 5; one says dry to average soil moisture, another says moist. It's a wonder we're not more confused with all the different information out there!
