Evergreen shade loving hedgerow

Hello,

I'd like to create an evergreen hedgerow bordering a wooded area at the back of our yard. The area is shady to part shady in the summer - wooded area is mostly deciduous. Does anyone have suggestions for shrubs or trees that would fill in rather quickly and reach a height of ~ 5 - 15 ft.? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

well, of course boxwood comes to mind. There are several variety, some that can take some sun and others that need more shade. You can prune the boxwood to a neat row or let them grow more loosely if you choose. It's just a great shrub. Check with your garden center for what kind are available and which do well for your area.

The evergreen Yew will take a lot of shade.

Barberries can take quite a bit of shade...used them for erosion control under a deck one time...they prospered and grew very quickly. The standard varieties get quite tall.
