If you're interested in hearing (and seeing) more about Prairie Garden Roof Systems, you'll want to attend this event. An open house is being held Monday, 9/19, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at ER Systems & Prairie Technologies, 6900 Bleck Dr., Rockford, MN, 55373. They will be giving tours of their 5,000 square foot Prairie Garden Roof every 15 minutes during the Open House. There will also be refreshments served. Some benefits that a garden roof provides:

• Reduced energy costs through the insulative and cooling effects (transpiration) of the rooftop garden

• Increase the longevity (life) of roof waterproofing system

• Storm water management - retains storm water and slows its release into the storm sewer system

• Mitigate the Urban Heat Island Effect

• Improves air quality through restoration of biodiversity

• Improves water quality by filtration and by keeping the water temperature low
