Heather Bean - is anyone familiar with this?

A few weeks ago, a lady stopped and rang my doorbell. She was driving by and spotted the common mullein growing in my yard and just loved it. She stopped to ask what it was! I ended up giving her some seeds, and in return, she mailed me seeds of a flowering vine she calls Heather Bean. She tells me it has purple flowers. I don't seem to be having much luck finding info on it online. Are any of you familiar with it? If so, what can you tell me about it? Sun or Shade? Polite or invasive? Does it attract birds or butterflies? Is it perennial or annual? Anything else??? LOL
