I was just outside checking the yard by the light of the street lamp here in Minneapolis. My thermometer says 31 right now. All the tender stuff looks like it is toast. Looks like I will be pulling out mushy annuals today.

Heard the forecast Friday night so yesterday, while it was so nice, I emptied all my containers before they turned to mush. I hated dumping beautiful things, but they are more easily disposed of DRY. Comes a time when the reality of approaching winter hits me and I let go of one season to embrace the next, that was yesterday...Two full pickup loads later (one full of the contents of my containers and one that was all morning glory vines) I took my first step to the new season....Tomorrow I will plant my bulbs, again...dum dum dum :0

ha ha ha Helen, I have not embraced the new season yet. ha ha. Everything looked so nice this Fall that I really hate to see it end. In addition, I've been in such a hurry to try to get my greenhouse up and running for Winter that I've been neglecting my gardens.

Today after work I need to get things repotted. I am on a volunteer committee that cleans up a perennial bed and took several rose cuttings in hopes of rooting them so we can add more of them to these beds. I've had them sitting in a bucket of water since Sat. I hope they are still viable for me to root. HAVE to get that done today. So many things to do...and so little time to get them done.

I finished emptying, cleaning, and storing pots today. Even filled those with sand that I'll be using for winter pots. Cleaned and stored my fountain today, emptied it on Sat. before the big freeze and will be setting up my heated birdbath tomorrow. I'll also be tucking a few more tulip bulbs in the ground tomorrow and am still debating digging and dividing a couple more clumps of lilies. Guess I'll wait and see how ambitious I am tomorrow.
