I always mow my Heritage plants to the ground after they lose their leaves - usually early-to-mid November. They start again each year from scratch - I believe that what is recommended for that particular variety. They are unlike most raspberries in that they bear fruit on new wood.

I only prune out the parts that already had berries so I get both a summer and a fall crop. I've been picking the fall crop for about a week or so. If yours aren't even blooming yet I'd say it is probably too late for them this year.

I would like to harvest twice, like Athena does. But if my plants are so stubborn, maybe I'll have to do the annual mow-down approach. I'm on the verge of just digging out the whole patch.. but that would be a lot of trouble.

I typically don't get fall berries until 2nd week of September - plants have eastern exposure which I understand makes a difference.
