Round-up works on plants in their rapid growth phase so the daffs won't be hurt; how effective it'll be on the grass depends on whether or not it's growing much right now. You might try cutting the grasses down and seeing if you can force new growth; if you can, that would be a good time to spray. However, if they are annual grasses (as opposed to perennial), spraying them won't matter much, because they're going to die this year anyway, but getting rid of seed heads will matter so they don't sprout next year.

If there are other plants in the bed you care about, don't use Round-up unless you can isolate the desirable plants.

If you do use Round-up, check out the label and/or talk to a knowledgeable pesticide person (retail sales or extension specialist) or look on the web for detailed info about how to use it. If the grass is past it's growing season and is a perennial, you may have to resort to other methods.

The grass is still growing...in these parts of IL anyway. Round-up will still be affective. Just follow label directions and spray when calm.

I used Round-up on the area and it worked wonderfully to kill the grass.

Now to see if the daffys come up next Spring!

It worked very well. The Round-up killed the grass last Fall and the daffodils came up just fine this month. In a relatively weed-free bed.

Don't use Round-up for fear of killing the daffodils. I'd use a product called "Over the Top" which kills the grass but leaves flowering plants alone. I think Fertilome makes it.

I've used it before and have had success with it.
