Planting Sunflowers

My son recently planted about 8 giant sunflowers between our driveway and our house. The seeds are abour 1 foot away from the house. we have a basement (it doesn't leak, yet). Can the sunflowers root system damage the basement wall? If the flowers, or my basement, are at risk, I need to transplant them to another location.

All will be fine - the sunflowers will be gone at first frost in Fall, not like a tree with an enduring, expanding root system.

Actually sunflowers have a VERY compact tight root system. Which is pretty suprising for their height and strength. I grew some 6-8ft sunflowers a few years back. I had decided to dig them up,(for what reason I don't recall). Their roots are like a 10-12 inch ball of VERY strong roots. I broke two shovels trying to get them out! Anyway, no worries for your basement walls.
