Never planted onions, and am getting mixed messages about when and what to plant as far as onions. The garden is tilled and all I want is to grow some medium sized white onions, as they are running 1.99lb at the store. What works best...seed, set, or plant and when can I start them here. I am right on the NJ PA border. I would appreciate any advice.
