very likely- they don't really like being confined to a pot small enough to fit on a desk, so quickly become suseptible to every bug that comes along.

spraying it down with the veggie sprayer attachment in the kitchen sink is a good start. then, there are several 'safer' big sprays- the organic ones work fine. take it outside, spray it until it drips (get top and bottom of the leaves!) and let it dry in the shade.
