Yes, they do hate to be moved. That's why they are generally direct-seeded.

You might have success transplanting your sunflowers if they are ornamentals, but I agree with Blueheron: the hybrid sunflowers that are raised to bear seeds for oil or that are salted for commercial consumption will not transplant successfully.

autumn beauty is heirloom. i got seeds from the Seed savers exchange. anyway, it's the besides the point. regardless, i agree with everyone. my experience is that they don't take digging up transplant well. alot of time flowers with less sun does bloom , but they are not as good as the ones in sunnier spot. i think you should just leave it and see.

hello where i live theres this big pile of dirt and one day i saw a whole bunch of plants growing there randomlly and i found tomatoes,cat nip,pumpkin,and sunflowers and i dont know if someone like just threw some seeds down and they grew or what but i transplanted one of the sunflowers to my home and it seems to be dieing and i wanted to know the simtums i whould be seeing when i transplant it to different soil?
