juniper replacement

I live in Northern NJ and would like to replace my existing landscaping with something new. Currently I have spreading junipers covering my the front of my property as it slopes moderately downward to the sidewalk. I am looking for something that will last year-round like the junipers and is a bit more pleasing to the eye. The junipers just look so blah. The area is in full sun. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What is the depth and width of the border and is there a preference on height?

I have a lot of area to cover. The width of the border stretches the whole front lawn on one side of my house (about 35 - 40 feet). The depth of the border is about 5 feet. The border slopes downwards at about a 45 degree angle. I don't necessarily have to cover the whole area. I currently have about 6 or 7 junipers scattered about the border surrounded by red cedar mulch.
