Black Lavender Stems

Hello another newbie question!! I have some Lavender plants which I am trying to clip into a low hedge, the were seedlings in the autumn and have grown considerably. The centres of the bushes have a black coating on the stems and leaves. Any ideas on the cause?

Possibility: Sooty mold growing on the honeydew from aphids/scale.

Have you got manuka growing nearby? Or Corokia? They're great ones for sooty mould.

Try brewing up some soap flakes, about a palmful to half a bucket of water (4 litres), swish it until it's dissolved then spray on.

They might need a bit more air movement and sunlight, too. They don't do well in too much shade.
