Well Sweep herb farm has a paragraph or two in the catalog (pdf format) about what rosemaries they have had luck with growing in a normal zone 6 type summer. My sister has Arp in Cape May and it is 4 years old.

I am trying arp this year. I put one in the ground and one in a container that I will bring in. I am not sure with a winter like this last one that any rosemary will survive but I am an optimist. I will pile some mulch at the base and hope that keeps the thing from freezing hard.

I was able to overwinter Arp one winter with heavy mulching. Didn't mulch it the following year and lost it. Good luck!

My Arp Rosemary was badly set back the winter before last and the past winter finished it off.

My Arp survived this past winter,it thinned out a little, but I cleaned it up and now it's as good as new. It's probally about 5 years old now.

Hi. No good news here about arp rosemary *sigh* Iplanted it in spring 2003, it grew into a great healthy bush over the summer and into fall, then froze up in January and died. It was in an herb bed with really great soil and southeastern exposure.Incredibly dissappointing.

Since I use so much rosemary, in years before this, I have tried growing a number of varieties, including Tuscan, which is supposed to be pretty hardy and nothing lasted the winter.

HOWEVER, just an hour south, in central Jersey, a friend of mine has a HUGE thriving Tuscan rosemary bush she nhas had for years ... poor soil, southern exposure, growing up against the stone wall of her house ... I'm thinking the stones must heat up and create a microclimate in the winter.

Just for fyi my Arp rosemary survived this winter with heavy mulch and good drainage on a southern side.... (it was also very small and planted fairly late)..... It had winter damage and looks fairly brown but it is "wick" (green inside the stems) and is making new leaves.... :)

I tried arp last year. I desparately wanted to find a Rosemary that would survive the winter. Alas... it did not. But then I garden out in the open and the wind whips thru so that may be why.
