Is that the double bright yellow one? If yes, it's 'Harrison's Yellow'. High Country Roses probably carries it. It is susceptible to blackspot in more humid places like Illinois, because it has at least a little Rosa foetida blood in it. If you are wondering why you didn't see blackspot on it (or probably any other rose) in Nevada, it's because it's so incredibly dry here. We just don't get blackspot in Northern Nevada.

Hmm, Lisa, I beg to differ about blackspot here in NV. I put in 3 'Topaz Jewel' roses, and they are now full of blackspot. I know it is not the norm, but if the plants are infected w/ it, it can be here too, especially depending on the location of plant and what kind of air circulation,etc. I think i made the mistake of accepting roses grown on commercial rootstock. I am hoping that the dry climate + winter cold will banish it for next season ;~() as i am not into dousing w/ chemicals...

kmac, it could well have come in with the plants. Yellow roses and those with yellow ancestry are more susceptible. I don't spray with any chemical harsher than baking soda-light horticultural oil-insecticidal soap myself. I used to use a dilute solution of Roccal (also known as Consan-20 or Physan-20 or quaternary ammonium compounds)--it's the same stuff as in the disinfecting kitchen/bathroom cleaners, and I used it for cleaning kitchens and baths, too--if you are careful and don't make it so strong it burns the plants, it seriously kicks blackspot backside. But if you don't like to use that kind of cleaner in your house, I don't suggest you try it in your garden, either. It kind of does make your nose hairs curl...
