Hi;- Don't panic.....;-] Your cuttings might still be doing fine. If the stem is still staying green the roots should still form as normal. It is
a deciduous vine so since it's lacking a root system it will drop the leaves in order to conserve it's energy.

I would probably still use the same method, rooting them in water, but in the spring when the plant starts breaking dormancy.

I have VC in my yard. It has been my experience that when cutting back long branches which have spread on the ground, more often than not when I pull them up, there are roots starting at the leaf node. Plant those, or keep in water until they look 'plantable'! You could get several starts on one branch alone!

Thanks HD!! I have plenty of long branches of vc growing out from along my fence on the one side of the yard to give me enough plants for the back side. I had a major blowout of my drip line back there sometime during the summer and that's caused the vines to die. Wish I had paid more attention to it when that happened. Oh well. I will start them and eventually plant them back there. Add this to my never ending list of things to do in the yards...;)
