Your daffodils will have no problem with this weather. Don't worry about them until flower buds show. Even then it will have to be really cold to damage the buds. At worst you might lose the bloom on some of the daffadils for one year, but the leaves will grow and provide food for next year's bloom. If at all possible don't remove the leaves (before they turn brown naturally) or rubber band them or braid them - that reduces the amount of food produced by the leaves and will reduce the vigor of the bulbs. If there aren't many buds this year, you may need to dig and divide the bulbs, but other than that daffoldils are low maintenance. Sorry - more than you wanted to know.

You should be OK...even if the tips are brown - the plant should be OK unless the whole bud gets consistenly frozen.

In my 15 years of gardening, there's only been one year where I've lost daff blooms to a freeze-that was 1992. The first week of March was in the 70s and some started to bloom with others a foot high and already in closed-bud. Then-we had 2 weeks of lows in the low teens and they got fried.

As long as they aren't more than an inch or two high, they can take pretty darn close to zero degrees-more with snow cover.

lets just hope that after they're in full bloom and look so beautiful that we don't have a hard freeze. we wait so long on our daffodils, don't we:) daffodils can take alot!

My crocuses are up and snow drops are blooming like champs. Hang in there!

does anyone know if the daffodils (hybrids, not the wild ones which are earlier-if you have them in KY) are blooming in the bowling green (KY)area? i used to live along highway 31 where about 5 homes had a huge display of daffs that were planted in patterns about 70 or so years ago. i now live in TN and want to go see them but for sure i'd like to wait til they are in bloom. can anyone help?

I'd bet the big King Alfred types are close, if not in bloom yet.
