If you do get rust it will die over the winter here. When you receive your daylily, soak it in a bleach and water solution. It should be fine.

Yes, the good news is that our usual Ohio cold winter weather seems to lead the death of Daylily Rust spores. However, I was just thinking about Daylily Rust last week. I hope this mild winter has been cold enough & consistently enough to kill any spores.

Well, everyone seems to have forgotten the bitter cold we had from before Thanksgiving to about the middle of December. I don't know how long low temps have to be around, but we had a week of night-time temps in the teens. I froze my patootie off on my 45 minute morning walks at 5:30 am. Now, we're getting another blast of more normal temps, so if it does kill off, we should probably be fine.

Given the nice January, I'm expecting blizzards in April....of course, that's the Michigander speaking...and it was a 20 year sojourn in CT, but....hopefully we'll lose a lot of ticks too.
