I am taking my first stab at growing spider lilies this year myself. A friend of mind got them for me on Ebay and shipped them to me. I'd suggest looking there. I just did a search for "red spider lily" and came up with 3 hits. Lycoris Radiata is the red version. Mine aren't doing so great - but one is up and just started to bloom. the rest of the bulbs don't appear to be doing much.

Does anyone know if in Zone 5 I will have to dig these out? if so, I don't think they will work here. From what I've read, they keep their foliage all winter, then start to bloom again after the previous year's foliage dies back. I have them in a sheltered spot, and plan to cover them well with mulch come fall, but if necessary I'll dig them out and pot them up, put them in my heated plant house.

Spider lily means different things to different people, could you tell us which one you mean? Around here some people use spider lily, or surprise lily, or naked ladies. If you mean the pink one that blooms on a stalk usually in late summer, I have some that you are welcome to.
