What veggies can I plant now?

20 years ago

I have harvested all my carrots and onions, and have an open space that wants to grow weeds. I'd rather grow something more productive, but am not sure what I can start in this heat that can also be ready to harvest by the first cold snap (or survive it). Any ideas?
