That stinks. Im afraid you may loose that one or at least some of the branches. I have read that some Guava can see that low but for how long I dont really know.

I heat my greenhouse for my citrus and with a 20kBTU natural gas heater and a backup 1500 watt electric going it struggled to maintain 53. I prefer 60. It is only single layer of plastic though. We are going to look at making a big blanket to put over the top made from movers blankets. I did that on a smaller greenhouse and just covered it when the sun went down.

I've never grown guava, but like Mike, I've heard some can take pretty cold temperatures for a limited period if not protected, or for somewhat longer if wrapped and covered.

Are you growing common guava? I think those are only reliable down to the low 20s. I think that pineapple guava can tolerate temperatures down into the low teens, so I guess if I was going to try to grow a guava, I'd try it with a pineapple guava. They do grow common gauva as a commercial crop in Georgia, although I believe they have to cover them in winter. It wouldn't surprise me if this week's weather harms the guavas in Georgia.

My unheated greenhouse went down to 22, and we went down to 7 or 8 degrees here, depending on which thermometer you look at. Marietta officially went down to 6. I didn't have much left in the greenhouse that was green, and none of it is green after last night's temperatures, but a lot of the plants in there are zone 7 anyway, so should be fine. At least they were in the greenhouse where the wind couldn't beat them up.

They ARE Pineapple Guava. Yay!! Time will tell. We are going to get the wire put back up so we can heat the room they are in if it gets this cold again. I will be happy if I can just keep it at 30 overnight because it warms back up on sunny days. It was up to 38 after an overnight low of 15 in there at 10 this morn.

You could try and wrap the plants with christmas lights and cover with a sheet for the really cold night. That could add just enough warmth to keep the branches and tips from getting dangerously cold.
