Seed Requests

I'm starting to fill requests now. I didn't keep a good record of everyone I promised seeds too. I have requests for Diane, Helen, Danni Girl, Paula(Kelly Girl) and Susan along with what I'll send Dawn and Carol. So if I promised you any seeds or if I haven't but you want anything I have send me an email and I'll try to fill them all at once. Chandra like I said before just let me know what on your list you still need and I'll see what I have. Jay

hehe! (insert sheepish grin here)...if you mean "Paula (Kelly girl) then that would be me. I'm so in AWE of everything you grow...I'll be happy with ANYTHING you share. I'm growing garlic and Rutgers tomatoes again this year thanks to you! (yes, I know on another thread I was only growing 5 kinds of tomatoes this year...but "Man plans, God laughs!". What can I say?)

And I think your horses and Chandra's grass must be connected by "kizmit" or "karma" or something. They should both be worried about your collective gardening addictions. Their continued existance is in danger....=)

Shoot me an e-mail if I can help with your distributions in any way...I try to keep an "off-line" archive of certain info & wish lists.

    Hi Jay,
I see Diane's name listed, so I thought I should speak up. In our correspondence you always call me Diane, but my name is Dana. I've never thought it worth mentioning until now, but was afraid if I didn't speak up it might cause confusion.

I'll see if I can find our last email and resend it to you to further clear up any confusion.

    Thank you kindly,
    Seedmama

Jay, like Paula I would be very appreciative of any veggies you are willing to share although with your vast list, I would be completely lost and overwhelmed to choose. I do have a wish list on GW so perhaps that might be a good place to start... or perhaps Paula's 'archive' would reveal some secrets. I know she's a government contractor but was that for the FBI?!? CIA?!? Hmmm.

    Thanks Jay!

Dear Jay, the Generous (Or GENEROUS JAY!), as Paula and Lynn said, I'll be happy with ANY SEEDS you share! I am sure whatever you share are "MUST TO PLANT" types of varieties.

Paula, does horses love vegetables! then they must be happy and eagerly waiting for Jay's tasty vegetable to arrive.

Thank you Dana for clarifications, I thought Diane and Dana are two different names.

Dana believe it or not I did have your name down and had it right. I was referring to Owiebrain this time. Thanks for checking though.I do still have your last email and have what you requested on my work sheet.

Paula the email I had from you requested a bi-color and then any surprises. Jay

Jay, Almost all of these people are on my seedswap list so you can mark their packages and send it all to me if you want to. I still don't have all of the packages, so yours will probably arrive before I can get the others ready to go out. I think Helen is the only one not on my list. I know how you ship those things and it could save you a little money if you want to send them here. If it has a name on it, I just throw them in that stack and don't count them as part of the swap. It's up to you. Carol

Jay, I sent a SASE if you haven't already sent my request. Soonergmom, I would have loved to join the seedswap but I mostly garden for salads and this was an all veggie thing. I have mostly commercial tomato seeds and don't trust my seed saving as I am a lazy labeler. Twenty was a stretch. Glenda from the Ozark forum and here is converting me though. I always only grew flowers and bought a six pack of Early Girls at the feed store with some onion plants and lettuce seed. Now I waste many hours on-line looking up tomatoes. Someone got me hooked, Ceresone and Sweetwilliam actually. Dawn enabled, my friend may be doing an intervention soon.

    Helen,
That will be fine. It may be a few more days before I'm ready to send anything anyway. The sinus infection is still slowing me down some. I will also include a few others. I should have extra of the Casey's Yellow seed also. Jay

Once again, seedmama and I are twinning it up. We're like the DoubleMint twins, only better looking.

    Diane

Jay, I think I am down for just Purple Haze and Juanne Flamme. No hurry, I am also still out of it. If not better tomorrow I might call the doc again.

    Susan

Jay, my husband likes chili rellenos so wants me to find seed of Poblano pepper. Do you have that? Or seed of a large only mildly hot stuffing pepper? I know almost nothing about peppers. Usually just grow bells and Tam Jalapeno. I would send you an SASE for a half dozen seeds if you have them.

Susan I have you down for Purple Haze F5, Black Cherry and Juane Flammee'.

Mulberry I will move to my peppers after I get done with the tomatoes. I will see what I have. I will let you know soon. Jay

You are making me hungry, chili rellenos, how cruel. I will have to get out a jar of salsa and chips because of you Mulberry. There are no chili rellenos or any else good to eat here. Jay thank you very much. You need to eat some hot peppers to clear out those sinuses. No hurry at all; it is too early to plant them. Although I have thought of planting an Eva Purple Ball in one little cup just for fun.

I had forgotten about the Black Cherry, Jay! I appreciate it and you so much, and thank you. Absolutely no hurry on my end either. Please be well!

    Susan

I have mailed all of the requests I found. If you made a request and don't receive something in the mail by the end of the week please let me know. Jay

    Thanks Jay!

That will be something to look forward to. I am not happy about our forecast.

NOW the seed starting can begin

    Diane,
"Once again, seedmama and I are twinning it up. We're like the DoubleMint twins, only better looking."

I haven't been keeping up with this thread. If I were tall, thin and brunette, we really could be twins.

    Seedmama

    Leava,
Looks like Seedmana has you covered on the Sungold seeds but if you decide you need anything else just holler. I should have plenty of most seeds. Jay

thank you seedmama, not only am i thinking about seeds every day, last night i dreamed about seeds.so i would be glad to know i am sort of DONE........of course being snowed in makes it kind of easy to make this resolution of doneness............lets see if i can walk past seed racks and keep on walking.i will send you the litchi seeds when i get them from bakers.

and thank you jay for your generous offer :)

Jay, I'm curious. How and in what do you store your seeds? I'm trying to think ahead for seed saving. Thanks.

    Susan

Susan, Do you mean the shelved and coffee can lined, climate controlled seed room?

    Jay,

My envelope of goodies arrived today.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Opening the envelope was like Christmas.

Now, I'll have to revise my "final" tomato list again because I want to grow all the varieties you sent.

If I ever mention any seed I have that you'd like to try, I hope you'll say so because I'd gladly send you any seeds I have in return for those you always send me.

    Dawn

    Susan,
That changes from time to time. I used glass canning jars with lids for many years and separated by source and combined sources where I only had a few varieties from a source. I also have used the plastic coffee cans. I put all of my seeds in zip lock baggies when I save them or they arrive if from an outside source. But when I started sorting and culling in Jan I decided to sort them by the alphabet and bought a filing case with a handle. It has like 30 large pockets in it. Room for two sections of the alphabet as I combine some letters. I sorted them into those I will grow this year and those I wanted to keep but not grow this year. So when I start sowing I can go to the pocket the variety is in and get it out without having to do as much sorting as I have in the past.

Dawn you are more than welcome. I hope they all do well for you. Carol should have some soon if her mail carrier has snow shoes. LOL. Oh I'm sure there will be something I will ask for. I just sent an email to Tom about Make My Day. As if I need another variety to grow. Have heard so many good things about it.

Carol not that I wouldn't like a room like that. But as they say poor boys have poor ways. LOL. Jay

    Jay,
I got my Santa package from you and I am thrilled. I am going to spend some time today using the search feature here so I can read your comments on each of the varieties. This is going to be great year for tomatoes, I can just feel it! Thanks so much!

Man, Christmas in December (truly!), Christmas in January (seed swap) and Christmas in February (Jay's bundle). Wonder what March will hold...?

    Wonder what March will hold...?

    Good weather would be nice!

Last year we had snow on the first day of spring, so I am sure the memory of that will haunt me this March. The onions, potatoes and sugar snap peas didn't appreciate celebrating the first day of spring with snow, and neither did I.

However, I think it would be hard for March to start out worse, weatherwise, than February has.

We have had somewhere between 3 and 4 more inches of snow here today. I don't think we have any more snow in our forecast until tomorrow night. Yippee! Maybe a whole 24 hours off.

I looked at my tiny seedlings on the light shelf today and then looked out the window at the falling snow. It just seems wrong to have snow falling after the little tiny plants have poked their heads up out of the seed-starting mix.

    Dear jay,
I am looking for some tomato seeds that are indeterminate, and not a cherry tomato. A beefsteak style that is an 8 to 12 or more oz fruit.
I am also looking for a pepper like a jalapeno. My city lot back yard will not hold many veggies. Any that you send will be likely a surprise, but that's the best part.
    Thanks
    Dale
