My chives are still dormant. I usually see them start to wake up in early April.

My mint is greening up, but the chives haven't appeared yet. I think it is too early for them. My perennial onions and garlic both are up and growing, but they never lost all their green this winter---they just took heavy freeze damage that browned out some of the foliage.

I haven't cleaned out my mint beds. Today I scratched down enough to see that there's a little green down there. I also saw a couple of chives down in there, as well. I pulled the leaves and debris back over all of it, and I'll leave it be until I know we're not going to have another hard frost.

I haven't seen anything in my mint bed yet. I didn't water it last year, so I am anxiously waiting to see if it survived.

I've only lost mint one time---in the terrible summer of 2011, and I was watering it. Clearly I didn't water it enough. I hope yours survived, and I bet it did.
