I put some of mine in one of those hanging planters made for strawberries. I hang them outside during the day and bring them in at night.
The planter I'm talking about is the kind they sell along with the upside down tomato planter at places like C.T and Zellers...they are heavy plastic with holes on the sides.

Glad I did this too...snowed last night...*sniff* Where's spring/summer? I heard that it will be on July 17 this year...our one day of spring/summer that is.

I'd plant them now...if you haven't already done so. I've found squash and cucumbers to be hardier than you'd expect, and -- at least for the cultivars that I grow -- they seem to survive low temps (-1C or so, which leaves my tomatoes with cold damage) quite nicely.

If you have them indoors (shed), go to a thrift store and buy yourself some nylons. Make a loop around the stalks, and hoist them up and hang from the ceiling ... or ... wall behind them. The nylon doesn't bind the stalks and is a very strong support system. I've used this method outdoors as well ... so to keep them from sprawling over the lawn.
