You might try morning glory and nasturtium, unless your season is too short or cool for morning glories to bloom. This way you'd get earlier bloom from the nasturtiums, and later (summer) bloom from the morning glories.

the morning glories should work for you, if you get quite a bit of sun. Mine have self seeded and come back on their own. The clems are perennial,but depending on the type it could be cut to the ground each year and would be o.k. I have had a volunteer morning glory grow in with my'etoile violete' clematis and look quite nice! A jackmannii is also very vigorous clematis and would be nice too.
