Maxillaria valenzuelana

If you're looking for spectacular, this isn't it. The flower is very small - there are often two - and looks much better in photographs than it does to the naked eye. On the plus side it has attractive, unusual foliage, making it look more like an iris than an orchid - evolutionary biologist believe lilies, irises and orchids all had a common ancestor and that they began to diverge a mere 30 million years ago - and it is a prolific flowerer, about 4 times a year.
