Lophiaris lanceana (ex Oncidium lanceanum)

The so-called "mule-eared" Oncidiums were given their own genus in 1993, for once it's easy to see why. Apart from the shape of the flower there are some other obvious differences in the plant. Leaves are large and thinnish, not glossy and there are no pseudobulbs to speak of. Despite this disadvantage it copes reasonably well with dry conditions. This is a first flowering. It has had to reach quite a large size to achieve this.
