You got it. This one tends to sprawl instead of growing nice and compact. I was wondering if there are more compact cultivars of intermedia out there as this is the only one I grow.

Clint, I purchased a very nice coerulea form from Countryside Orchids three years ago. It has stayed nice and compact in a 6" basket and this year presented four lovely flowers on one stem. I posted a photo back in early March on the Gallery. If you'd like to see it but can't find it, let me know and I'll try to repost.

Clint, I also have one exactly like yours and Marci's. Mine has 3 spikes this year with 6 blooms. Mine is a very compact grower, I got it from H&R orchids. Yours is a beauty too!~Charm

Clint, that is a nice intermedia so why are you complaining? Lol. I collect them too and most do not get "straggly". Flowered a lot of seedlings and the ones i do not like are those that are too round and filled in so they lose the intermedia "look" .
Never encountered the variety coerulescens

That's a beauty. Clint, I have 2 intermedias (one I think is mislabelled); it is somewhat sprawly, but I find if it gest more overhead light, its internodes are much shorter. I have a v. orlata 'Crownfox' which is set to burst its sheath any day. It is a hugh plant for an intermedia, and its internodes are short.
