Absolutely stunning and marvelous plant. I too have heard of variation in fastuosa although more in leaf type (one with more round leaves, and one with longer leaves.) Thanks for posting!

Sigh... I'm so happy I just acquired one, otherwise I'd be entirely envious. Now I only have to be envious that mine is not blooming at the moment.

It's a lovely plant. I actually rather like the purple blush, it makes the white of the flowers stand out more. Other than the roach bite (stupid roaches) it looks like a very happy fastuosa.

Is the purple indicating too much light in a bad way (as in, change it soon), or are you just riding the edge and it should be okay?

Nice job Bruce. Doesn't look like mine will bloom this year - lots of robust leaf growth but no inflorescence. I know I keep it too dry but at least the growth is strong in the light it gets. Maybe next year. Well done!

Thanks everyone for your comments. Quinnfyre -- I think I'm "surfing the edge" of too much light, although I'm not that close to critical burning...just enough to turn the leaves purple. I've seen nicely-blooming ones kept in less light, and the leaves are a lush green.

Bruce - Mine was intensely fragrant at 5AM and 5PM. See if you can catch it at those times!

Yup -- you're right, bayard. I was out there tonight because I had to turn the heaters on, and it was pretty strong. A different kind of fragrance, too...maybe kinda spicy/sweet?

That second photo is really outstanding. And four flowers? Very nicely done. The most I've had is two. Mine is late this year with the spike only a half inch or so currently. I wish I could smell it.
