Despite being from the Amazon, this Cochleanthes seems to be quite happy in our somewhat cooler conditions and in fact blooms more readily than its equally handsome but lazy cousin C.speciosum. I'm always on the lookout for more of this genus, which is good-looking even when out of flower (unlike some I could name), with iris-like leaves, but these are the only two I have come across locally.
