Bloomed late this year. Also, has some leaf problems - the newest leaves on two fans turned brown. I recall this happening once or twice in the past, and the fan eventually continues to produce new leaves...wondering if it's my occasional lack of watering. Not sure though! Neo experts?
Scent is vanilla-coconut but becomes almost chemically up close!
Interesting. Mine started out with a very citrusy jasmine scent, with an undertone of white chocolate. Now it's settling into more of the white chocolate scent, but there's still a bit of that citrus/jasmine scent.
Not a neo expert here. I seem to remember that I got some leaf die-off when I was less consistent about my watering. It's been happy as a clam since I repotted it into a mixture of coconut fiber, tree fern fiber, what I think was bits of lava rock, and maybe something else. The coco fiber/tree fern combo keeps it more evenly moist but still airy enough for me, and I can visually tell when it's in need of watering. Very important for an orchid growing on my upper shelf and therefore not in easy view.
Yours is definitely further along in blooming. I only have three flowers open, and six buds still to go. How long have you had your neo?
The weird thing is, this one seems to bloom but it doesn't seem to grow I have a friend who grows these quite succesfully and he tells me that his normal neo (not those fancy cultivars) double in the number of fans every 3-4 years. I've had this bad boy for 2 years and I don't think it's grown more than 4 new leaves let alone fans. Any ideas?
