There is a subgroup of the Bolbophyllums called 'macrobulbons'. They are:

fletcherianum syn spiesii
phaelanopsis
macrobulbon
orthosepalum
agastor
cruentum

Note that Bulbo macrobulbon is one of the macrobulbons. Has led to a little confusion. This plant came labeled B macrobulbon however the flower bears no resemblance to the flower of this species. It looks more like the flower of fletcherianum or orthosepalum. It was possible to trace the origin of this plant.

A flower of a true B macrobulbon was hand pollinated and a selfing of B macrobulbon was to be expected. B fletcherianum and B orthosepalum had open flowers at the same time. The pod parent is a sure thing so 1/2 of the plant is indeed B macrobulbon however it is speculated that the other 1/2 came from either the B fletcherianum or the B orthosepalum and that the pollinator (probably a fly as their aroma attracts them) got there first. The flowers resemble fletcherianum more than orthosepalum so I'm going to go with that and tentatively call it B macrobulbon x fletcherianum.

Unless it's being consider for an award or a pod develops, it hardly matters. I like it no matter who be the daddy.
