Even if you are bored to tears with the constant high fire danger and drought, PLEASE read the Special Weather Statement from the NWS linked below.

This Special Weather Statement describes a particulary dangerous situation that seems poised to occur on Sunday.

If the expected conditions develop, Sunday has the potential for devastating wildfires in some areas on Sunday that could be similar to what we experienced across vast portions of our state on April 9, 2009.

If you did not live here then, all you need to know is that incredibly fast-moving wildfire destroyed hundreds of homes all over the state and other personal property like barns, sheds and vehicles; many farm animals and some pets were killed; many people were evacuated at a moment's notice, and in some counties, ranchers and people with domestic farm animals like chickens, goats, pigs, cows and horses struggled to evacuate and save their animals, and some of them did not succeed.

Please take this as seriously as the NWS is taking it. They issued this Special Weather Statement to give us a heads up so we all know to prepare and pay attention.

Be sure to turn on your weather radio if you don't have one, because the NWS will transmit Fire Warnings and Evacuation Notices at the request of local emergency management personnel. If you don't have a weather radio, tune in to local media.....or buy that weather radio before Sunday rolls around.
