Beautiful Marci. I've been interested in the versteegianum becasue I read it's spike is shorter. What size is the spike, bloom? I recently lost my papillio and will replace it.

Plant: tallest leaf 6"
wire: 24"
body of flower: 2"
flower from top of 'feelers' to bottom of lip: 4"
BTW, it's from H&R. They had several at the show so might have more.

Thx Marci. Those are the vital statistics of the verstigiianum, perhaps blooms a bit smaller. In comparison, my papillio when in spike/bloom had a 39" 'wire' and 5 - 6" bloom. It stayed in bloom for almost a year while initiating new grwoth and even starting a new spike. Then almost overnight it was gone! I was told it was bacterial rot. I now have three small pieces potted and doubtless will wait another 2-3 yrs to see blooms again......so, I must check with H&R, see what they have ;)
