My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
My hopes of firing Chemlawn and going organic has come to a standstill. The one place I found CGM he would have to order it special @ $36/50 lb. I need 200 lbs. Maybe that's a good price. I don't know. And I can't find soy anywhere. Any one from PA know where I can get either in the HBG. area?
I don't know about CGM because I don't use it. But the local Agway has been very co-operative about getting the soybean meal for me. If they don't have it in stock (they usually do), they will order it. It is $8.75 per 50 lb bag. I live about an hour north of Harrisburg and buy the SBM from the Cressona Agway.
I just called our local agway. They have SBM for $10.90/50 lb. It's called hi-pro. Hopefully this is the kind I can use on my lawn. The guy said SBM is SBM. I ordered 3 bags. They also have CGM for $22.95/25 lb.
The CGM is pretty expensive and according to what I read on these forums only works after a couple of years application (and then not 100%). If you wanted to take a middle-of-the-road approach to your lawn care, you might want to use organic fertilizers such as soybean meal and alfalfa pellets, but use spot spraying with Weed-Begone to control dandelions, clover, and crab grass. And cut your grass at about the 3" height. (Just my opinion).
I'm in upstate western NY and getting CGM and soybean meal is not an option. I sure wish it was as I've be trying really hard to drop the Scotts/Turfline junk for the last 3 years.
