Slime molds generally appear on decaying wood, although they can be in other places, uncommonly. Most people are most familar with a slime mold also known as Dog Vomit mold. What you have does not look like any of the pictures I have of any Slime Mold, and I'm also not sure what it is. Most molds need a fairly moist environment to grow in so drying out that environment, if possible, may well get rid of it. But I'd try to hose it off the plants first.

Looks like eggs to me...of what I have no idea.

Yep - just harmless slime mold of the variety found in turf grasses. I found some in my St Augustine just this afternoon.

There are lots of other slime molds out there - including the 'dog-vomit' kind. Nothing to be concerned about with this one, though.

We're in Austin, so it's pretty much just rained here for the past two weeks. Thanks for the reassurance. My 1 year old son likes to get in it...it may be harmless to the grass (and to him) but it's yuck on clothes.

I hesitate to suggest spraying soapy water on it since it's already saturated. If you have some corn meal on hand you could sprinkle that around.

If you've had that much rain you might think about getting some greensand. What happens in our calcium soil is any acidity we were able to accumulate during the winter can be washed away by that much rain. When the pH jumps up toward 8 (and beyond) the iron in the soil binds with the calcium. I'm not sure what the mechanism is by which greensand releases it but it is the only thing that will turn your lawn green again. John Dromgoole will have greensand at his nursery. I've seen it at Lowes in huge bags (a best buy) but not all of them carry it. The app rate is 40 pounds per 1,000 square feet for best results. NOW is a good time to apply before the grass goes fully yellow for the rest of the season.

This slime mold (and others) are generally considered totally harmless. Slime molds aren't molds or fungi at all and thus, shouldn't be treated as such. For example, corn meal won't deter it (and might even feed it).

A heavy load such as this might yellow some of the grass due to a temporary loss of photosynthesis, but will soon disappear on its own. You could use a heavy spray of water as mentioned earlier, but I'm not sure that I'd bother.
