Your easiest solution is the most obvious, get rid of your dogs. I know that sounds like heresy to animal lovers, but an ongoing fight with the neighbors is real trouble. I feel sure it is your neighbors who have done this......that kind of person is dangerous so you don't want to escalate this fight with them over the dogs. Is it possible you know someone who would love to have your dogs? Let us know how you work this out.

Is the problem the dogs barking or do they just not like seeing them? If the latter, check out a rapid growing barrier of evergreens, such as the new one called Green Giant Arborvitae. I am listing a website where I bought mine.

Getting rid of our dogs is out of the question. They are our family pets. they do not bark unless there is trouble. They provide GREAT protection and there is no reason to get rid of them. Our neighbors have dogs too, so it is not the Dogs, it is the kennel or any type fo fencing that they oppose. Kennels are allowed in our neighborhood, since 2 other homes have them. If our neighbors did this, it is just out of spite towards us. I will look into the website you provided.

Thanks for the input.... I would love to have a dense hedge. I have planted many privets - not the wild type - recommended by a landscaper for our situation. However, I want to inter disperse other hedges, etc. to give it a more woodsy feel. I appreciate the input and help!

get a security camera or go to radio shack and get a dummy security camera, and put up a no nonsense sign warning trespassers that they will be photographed and prosecuted.
ask the police to question the people who you suspect are messing with you.
do not be intimidated.

I remember reading your original post & in fact I believe I posted there a time or two. Since it's obviously something about you or your family that the neighbors don't like (sorry, I mean no offense), could it be that they are mostly elderly & you are a younger generation? Maybe they are mostly one race and you are another? If so, maybe the only thing you've done wrong is dare to move there. If that's the case, there's nothing you can do except file some sort of discrimination suit. I still think you should contact a newspaper or local television reporter and let them do an in-depth story on your situation. It couldn't hurt and it may help. I remember from the original post that you had tried lots of things to get along with your neighbors. One of those security lights and motion detectors with the alarm would cost alittle but you would at least know who's doing these things. A friend of mine sits with an elderly man who wanders at night so she got one of those motion detectors and now knows if he opens the doors or windows at night. I'm sorry that I can't offer any legal advice.

There have been a couple of posts in the wildlife forum about motion activated cameras. One is titled "get yourself one for Christmas" and the other one is "Stationary Motion Sensing...."
After hearing about your neighbors carrying off your kennel, I wonder if they will do something worse. I'm sure you worry too. Maybe you can catch them at it if they do.

For the dogs have you considered one of those electronic fences that you can bury? They are rather costly but in the long run much cheaper than the attorney's fees. They are harmless to humans, animals learn quickly not to cross them and the neighbors can't see them. I'm including a link to where you can check them out. You can plant honeysuckle vines and put up trellises or lattice for them to climb. They are decidious but the vines will remain there and since you will have supports for your vines and not fencing I don't see how the neighbors can object. Good luck. Nancy

We have an underground electric fence, but when you have retrievers, they are not recommended.... We have used it or attempted to use it for our dogs, but they run right through it with little to no effect. And the bad thing is in order for them to come back in the yard, they are subjected to the same shock that occured (or that they did not notice) on the way out of the yard.

If you look back up the page, at the post made by "gldno1". She/He provided a link for Giant Green Thuja. I just went to Joplin last Friday and purchased some from the same place. They were actually larger than the website shows. I bought about 30 of them. The quart size pots were $6 each, and the plants average 30" high.
I would go soon if I were you, as these plants are larger than advertised and the nursery will probably start repotting them into the gallon size pots soon.
Also, I had done ALOT of research on these plants and this is the best deal out there. I emailed all of the other suppliers I could find and requested prices and plant sizes, etc. Many of the mail order plants offered at about $9.00 each were only 6" - 15" in height.
I also found the employees at the Botany shop to be very helpful. If you do go, I'd call first and verify the current pricing.

where were the dogs when the kennel was moved?even tho my dogs are inside at night, and older too, they let us know every time something goes on. so--it must not be the dogs barking they object to--what size dogs are they-- does the pen have feed and water-- these are the things i wonder--??

I have read that years ago they used cedar for hedges.It would involve a LOT of pruning but they would be cheap if you have a friend in the country.I planted some when they were 2-3 feet tall that are huge after maybe 15 years.They are dense and prickly too.Have you considered just screening the kennel or putting up a privacy fence in part of your yard?Could you angle pieces of privacy fence to partly screen the kennel so the dogs could see out but the neighbors couldn't look at it as an (eyesore?).Do they just hate dogs?Are you gone all day to work?Do the dogs maybe bark all day.Is there another neighbor that you trust that you can talk to.I didn't read your first post so I probably don't know the whole story here.Posy Pet

A couple of things... we do not allow our dogs to remain outside all day.. I since I am concerned about what could happen to them, since there has been incidents such as our cat was poisoned, I do not feel that it is safe to leave them outside.... Perhaps after I can afford a security camera I will leave them outside... This will tell me if they bark at all or if anyone tries to get to them...... Dogs are accepted in our neighborhood, in fact many run loose, bark all day, etc..... I do not believe in permitting that so I keep them inside when I am gone and as soon as I hear a bark from them, they come inside....
