Really beautiful. Are they hard to grow? How large do they get? Being pretty new to orchids I have just grown the more usual kinds.

Just realized I have Maxillaria Tennifolia and it is doing well. Is the picta grown the same way?

Shirley, I also have tenuifolia and I treat it much the same as picta and the other Maxes that I have. A good guide is the breadth of the leaves. The wider-leaved varieties need a little more shade, but basically they are all sun-lovers. - Ian.
