I'm glad you posted this, William. I was just about to ask about Fortex and Jade. I think someone on this forum likes Jade, but I may have dreamed it.

If Fortex has strings and doesn't taste wonderful, I'm passing it up. I've always liked Romano, but may try something else this year.

My all-time favorite was Kwintus then I did Cherokee Trail of Tears a couple of years ago due to the generosity of Helen, and it has joined the list!

Kwintus is a Romano-like long, flat bean but not mushy like Romano. Used to be available only from Park but my sis told me she saw it somewhere else this year...can't remember where.

Both are very flavorful....at least in my garden soil.

Wasn't Fortex ceresone's favorite bean?

fortex is a good bean with no strings. productive for me also. just looking for something with a heavier bean taste.

believe it was one ceresone liked.

I can't find Kwintus bean anywhere -- it's not in Territorial, Park, Burpee, or Henry Field. No Trail of Tears, either.

So, what's a recommendation of a stringless, good-tasting, firm, pole bean? I could order Jade, but I don't know anything about them. I think I'm always attracted to the beautiful names --

Well, duh. There was Kwintus, on page 90 - I have looked through those beans at least 3 times, I know. Thanks, William.

Also ordered today (Park) Fairy Tale Hybrid eggplant, Lee Okra, Egyptian Flat beets and Lettuce Leaf basil seeds. Feels good to be making garden plans when I'm feeling so uncomfortable with ice/snow threats tomorrow --
