Well..I'm sort of a "mislocated" Ozarker at the moment, but I'll always have the Ozarks in my heart....I'm in Guam right now, but I'm checking up on you guys...so watch out!

We moved to Pomona (Howell County, MO) from Wisconsin the end of last September. We're on 3 acres of pasture with beautiful, huge oaks and hickory trees. I'm a Wisconsin Master Gardener but we didn't have a chapter on rocks! I've decided to befriend them rather than fight them and am making a huge rock garden bed in part of the yard. I'm starting from scratch so would appreciate any "extras, thinnings, etc." anyone in my area might have. I came with two hostas, two day lillies, a couple of Iris corms, a bunch of daffodil bulbs and not much more.

Ah yes...the rocks! You have the right attitude, Connie! Hard work, but when you start working with them in your garden, they start to grow on you...What else are you going to do with them?

Welcome Connie! You have the right idea. You'd be fighting a losing battle if you tried to remove them all. Just dump some good compost on top and garden away. At least you'll have good drainage. lol There's a rock nearly as big as I am beside my shed that I attempted to dig out a few years ago. It's still there of course. I just planted iris on top of it since they're shallow rooted.
You must've left behind a lot of plants. If you email me, I can send you at least a couple plants this spring assuming they live through the winter. - Christie

Connie, I built rock flowerbeds everywhere.and 4'high small fences, use them to mark trees and shrubs i want to keep and still find rocks. I can come up with something for you later too.
