My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
Used to be called Encyclia, then Prostechea, now all of the upside down cockleshells are called Anacheilum. They'll be called Cattleya next! You are right, a very robust grower.
I've had the parent for 100 years and it is huge. Would be twice as big but I keep yanking divisions of it. I'm glad it's thriving for you. When it's really happy I have counted a maximum of 6 unblemished, open flowers per inflo. As it gets hot or dry or otherwise upset, the count diminishes. Mine looks best in the spring when they all open up. Then they get long and gangly and it looses some of the appeal. They'll bloom for 6 months or more.
There is an alba variety for sale on eBay right now I'm angling for.
I purchased this one from New Vision orchids, but it was originally fro H&R. The full tag reads Encyclia cochleata 'Hihimanu' AM/AOS x cochleata 'Spy Hill' AM/AOS.
There are two orchids in the background: Encyclia bractescens and Masdevallia oscitans. All three have been in bloom for quite some time.
It is blooming again. This is one of those plants that spider mites seem to love. So it is sprayed regularly with insecticidal soap, which seems to work well. Unfortunately, some of the leaves are damaged from previous outbreaks, and those damaged areas are prone to sun burn.
