I haven't used molasses for ants, but I think you want to use unsulfured, because the sulfur can kill microbes.

But isn't the molasses for fire ants?

It's been a while since I looked into this, but best I can recall is that either one works for ants, but the unsulphured kind also provides some broadleaf weed control when used regularly. Of course, I also recall there was much disagreement on this forum around molasses doing anything at all for either problem. That being said, I put some down on half my lawn this weekend when I watered. We'll see if the ants noticed.

I've heard of mixing with Borax, but just straight molasses I doubt it will do anything other then create more of them!
