I have started my sweet peas indoors. I get to eager and they get to leggy before it is warm enough. I do know they arn't crazy about our red clay soil like morning glories are to you should amend the soil if planting in "our" dirt. You should be safe by April 1st.

That is when I do my sweet peas. They like warm. I start plenty of other things in March but always wind up having to cover them up becuase of frost.
I look really silly trying to cover up vines.lol
