rag weed

I have a newly installed lawn (past fall) and i have maintained it organically. the only problem i am having is rag weed sprouts are shooting up in certain areas. i cut it regularly and have raised the cutting height to 3" this past week. i have no other weed problems except rag weed. any suggestions? will they eventually be run out by the taller grass? thanks

If you keep the "weed" free of any leaves that can take in sunlight and photosynthesize and make nutrients to feed the roots, those roots will, eventually, die and the "weeds" will stop growing there. it may require you to go back and by hand pull any leaves that appear below the mowers cutting height, although I've not seen that.

Ya, my cutting height is around 3" so there are definitely plenty of reg weed leaves below the cutting height. I guess pulling by hand is the only method. Thanks

You could spray vinegar on it, but if ragweed is a tap rooted weed, pulling it is probably easier. Do you have a Weed Hound tool? It allows you to stand up and pluck the weeds out.
